Henrietta's Dresses

Henrietta is particularly noticeable for his inconsistent hair and goofy dresses, esp. a baggie blueish-brown thing with yellow donut-shaped spots, and a long white one with eyes on it (debuted circa 12/29/92). The band "jester, a happy-go-lucky hobbit of a fellow" (Boston Globe, 5/7/95)

Fishman had always worn a dress onstage until the spring of 1997, when Jon appeared with no dress, no goggles, no headphone microphone, and no shaggy hair, and in what appeared to be a stylish, tailored, Italian suit. Then in the summer and fall of 1997, Jon also had a coat stand near his drum kit, onto which he sometimes placed his coat jacket.

But "the Henrietta dress" began to appear sporadicaly again, and by summer 1998 the dress was out again every night - except for 9/4/11, when he wore a dress covered with Xs rather than Os (that dress was auctioned by the Mimi Fishman Foundation in February 2012).

"I remember I just tried it on, stood in front of the mirror, laughed, and thought I looked like Barney Rubble or something. Then I wore it that night onstage for a joke. ... And I just wore it every night for the next 15 years." -- Fishman, as quoted in the July 2000 Spin, p. 113
