Love You

kipmat After introducing Page as "Paul Shaffer", Fishman prologues "Love You" as "a good old standard, this is probably from nineteen twenty-... one or something. Syd Barrett wrote it... I can't even remember what the original version was like anymore. This one is just, just a... if you feel like grabbing your partner and *swinging*, feel free, you know? People don't dance together anymore... Duke Ellington played in here, everybody danced together! So, you know, grab somebody... whatever, you know, just... These people over here at Elektra, they'll lead the way! They're all gonna grab each other... partners... and they're all gonna swing! Swing! Swing, swing, swing!" As if that's not enough, he introduces "Brad Sands on the chair!" This kind of joking, plus a nice long vacuum solo, is a great example of the irreverence displayed by the band when confronted with the pressure of a "high profile gig".
