Jam Chart for Halfway to the Moon (2 entries)

Date City Timing Notes
2022-07-30 Columbia, MD 6:43 Check out the studio version. Like "Fuego," this is one of Phish's finest recorded tracks. For a classy live "Fuego," revisit CMAC 14, which, on the heels of a Letterman appearance, features the song's studio outro. Here, wonderfully, the band moves in a different direction, opening up to dazzle and delight, a "shafty" Trey running point with Page by his side, the duo teasing a pretty medley that, in time, seamlessly shifts to become a signature "Strawberry Letter 23."
2023-09-01 Commerce City, CO 7:42 In contrast to Trey's typical whammy-oriented soloing in "Halfway", this version's outro finds Trey opting for thoughtfully melodic and fleet-fingered soloing, which in turn inspires a fully fleshed-out melodic conversation between himself, Page and Mike. Gorgeous.
Jam chart versions are selected because of improvisational and other characteristics that distinguish these from typical versions of the song.
The jam chart team has highlighted some versions with a yellow background; these are the versions the team believes to be especially improvisational, or otherwise notable.
A purple date indicates that you were in attendance.
